Just a reminder that the Phinney Ridge Community Council’s annual meeting starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in Room 7 of the Blue Building.

On the agenda is the Council’s annual election of Board members. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Nominees must live, work or own property or a business between Aurora Ave North & 8th Ave. NW and North 46th St. & North 75th St. For more information contact Phinneyridge.ccouncil@gmail.com & visit https://www.phinneyridgecc.org

Our Community Council is an all-volunteer group with a Board of Directors comprised of neighborhood residents, property and business owners. There are 15 board positions, half of which are elected each year for a 2-year term. Our purpose is to inform residents and encourage participation in shaping policies that affect the character of our neighborhood. Prior experience or specialized knowledge is not required, but a willingness to learn is a great characteristic.

The guest speaker will be King County Assessor John Wilson, who will explain:

1. Assessment Process; how it works and pertaining laws
2. Senior/Disabled Exemption Programs
3. Possible effect on taxes of proposed up-zones to Seattle’s commercial, multi-family and single-family zones.
4. Assessor’s thoughts on proposals to help those burdened by property taxes.

You can submit questions for the assessor in advance to Phinneyridge.ccouncil@gmail.com.
