First a Greenwood cat gets his own photo gallery show, now some of Woodland Park Zoo’s animals are showing off their artistic talents.
“A New Breed of Art: Creations by Woodland Park Zoo’s Animals” debuts Saturday night from 7-10 p.m. at Art/Not Terminal Gallery at Sub-T Room, 2045 Westlake Ave., in downtown Seattle. According to the zoo, this fundraiser is the first-ever non-human art show in Seattle (beating out Cooper the cat’s photography exhibit next weekend for the distinction). Here’s Watoto the elephant getting creative:
The exhibit includes about 20 paintings done by the zoo’s elephants and orangutans. Opening night features a wine and cheese reception, and zookeepers will discuss the animals’ painting techniques. The exhibit runs through March 5.
