Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Summer of Safety program at Bitter Lake Community Center provides activities and safe space for young people

Seattle Parks and Recreation is offering its Summer of Safety program at five sites this summer, including Bitter Lake Community Center, 13035 Linden Ave. N., to provide free structured activities and a safe space for young people.The program is geared towards diverse tweens and teens from low-income families.
Regular activities include field trips, arts and crafts, and sports. The program operates rain or shine and no sign up is required; youth can drop in on any day and at any time during the program’s regular hours. Most sites also provide a free lunch through the City’s Summer Food Service Program.
Bitter Lake Community Center’s Summer of Safety program operates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from July 2 through Aug. 24. Free lunch is served from 12-1 p.m. and snack from 3:30-4 p.m.
