New Hub Captain needed for Emergency Communications Hub at Phinney Center

by | Aug 17, 2018

The Emergency Communications Hub at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., needs a new Hub Captain, as current captain David Baum is moving on.

The work of the Hub Captain is to reach out to neighbors, making them aware of potential hazards and connecting them to the many information resources available from the City and other official entities. The Hub itself is a collection of picnic canopies and office supplies which, in a dire emergency, we hope would give some order to the natural process of people coming together (in the Phinney Center parking lot!) to learn about the situation and to figure out how to help each other.

You will collaborate with Ruth MacDonald, emergency preparedness expert at PNA, and Cindi Barker, leader of the citywide network of communication Hubs. I will be happy to help bring you up to speed.

If you think this might appeal to you, please email me at david.baum.seattle [at] gmail [dot] com. To remind yourself what it’s all about, and to see some of the information resources that are available, visit PhinneyHub.org.
