Bluebird Ice Cream is hosting a special event on Saturday in honor of Seattle Beer Week, with special flights of dessert-themed beers brewed by Bluebird and other Seattle breweries and paired with one of Bluebird’s ice creams, either side-by-side or as a float. Bluebird’s Phinney Ridge location is at 7400 Greenwood Ave. N.
In honor of May being Mental Health Month, NAMI Seattle is hosting Namaste – Yoga in Green Lake Park with Corepower Yoga from 10-11 a.m. Sunday at NE 72nd Street and East Green Lake Way. Suggested donation is $10; bring your own mat. Nearby Greenlake Bar & Grill will donate 10 percent of food purchases to NAMI Seattle all day.
Seattle Folklore Society presents Alan Reid and Rob van Sante at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Seattle Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Brick Building. Tickets in advance are $18 general; $16 SFS/PNA members, seniors and students; kids half price (all tickets are $2 more day of the show).
Alan Reid (vocals, keyboard, guitar, piano, accordion) was a vital member of Scotland’s legendary folk group, The Battlefield Band, for 40 years. His groundbreaking keyboard work helped cement the band’s reputation as one of the most influential of its generation, while his songs steadily gained admirers. From beautiful ballads to a musical cycle on the life and times of Scots-born sailor John Paul Jones, Reid has forged a reputation for composing songs with beguiling melodies and strong historical content – he was nominated for the 2009 Scots Tradition Awards in the ‘Composer of the Year’ category – and has continued developing his songwriting through this partnership with van Sante.
Rob van Sante (vocals, guitar, mandolin) was born in the Netherlands but has lived most of his life in England. Though his mother was a child-prodigy pianist, but Rob’s first love was the guitar. From the 1970s onwards he toured extensively in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, working with many of the stalwarts on the UK folk and jazz scenes. In the early 1990s he joined the rank of The Battlefield Band as their ‘fifth’ member (sound engineer) and continued in that role until 2010. Acknowledged for subtle guitar accompaniment and fine harmony singing, van Sante is also a noted producer, recording engineer, and session musician.

- Eastbound I-90 again will be reduced to one lane between Rainier Avenue South in Seattle and Bellevue Way SE in Bellevue from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
- March of Dimes March for Babies begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Seattle Center.
- Opening Day of Boating Season is Saturday with crew races and a boat parade on the Montlake Cut from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Montlake Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 12-4 p.m. and 4 p.m. and buses
- South Lake Union Saturday Market will close 9th Avenue between Denny Way and John Street between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.
- Art Rising will close John Street between Westlake Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North for a street festival and urban craft market between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.
- Fiesta 5K Ole! and Taco Truck Challenge begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Volunteer Park.
