A group of Phinney Ridge neighbors assembled and installed the GloCone on the Phinney Center’s air raid tower last weekend.
The GloCone will be lit up with holiday lights at 5 p.m. Saturday during a community celebration with caroling and treats. The air raid tower is on the corner of Phinney Avenue North and North 67th Street.
Some of the holiday monkeys are now up in windows of businesses and residences throughout the neighborhood.
Businesses sponsor a monkey (or two or three or more) each year as a fun alternative to the usual holiday lights. About 200 monkeys will be placed at businesses. Another 100 monkeys were auctioned off to individuals to help raise funds for the Greenwood Relief Fund after the March 9 gas explosion and the Greenwood Senior Center.
