Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday

by | Jan 18, 2016

Today (Monday) is a federal holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which means schools and banks are closed in honor of the civil rights hero.

Metro is operating its Reduced Weekday and ‘When no UW’ schedules. Some routes are not operating at all, while others have fewer trips than on a regular weekday. Most Metro and King County offices are closed, including Metro’s Customer Information, Lost and Found and Pass Sales offices.

All Seattle Public Library branches are closed today. And the library’s computer systems are being upgraded today, so the catalog is still searchable, but patrons can’t log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications are also unavailable.

Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities that are closed today:

  • Community centers
  • Environmental learning centers
  • Indoor swimming pools
  • Small craft centers
  • Volunteer Park Conservatory
  • Moorage Operations Office

All boat ramps; golf courses at Interbay, Jackson Park, Jefferson Park and West Seattle; and the Amy Yee Tennis Center remain open.
