Holiday events, live music, theater and more in Phinney Ridge-Greenwood this weekend

Here are a few highlights of events happening in the neighborhood this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

It’s the second weekend of Broadview-Thomson K-8’s Winter Tree Farm, at 13052 Greenwood Ave. N. Purchase a tree from 3:30-5 p.m. Friday (in the inner school courtyard – all Douglas Firs are $10 off on Friday only). The tree farm is open again from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Our neighborhood’s monthly Art Up Artwalk is from 6-9 p.m. Friday night at three-dozen galleries and other businesses. This is a great chance to get a lot of your holiday shopping done.

Seattle Schoolboard member Sherry Carr meets with constituents from 8:30-10 am. on Saturday at Bethany Community Church, 8023 Green Lake Dr.

Maracuja performs pan-Latin music at Empty Sea Studios 6300 Phinney Ave. N., at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. The show is also available online through The Roots Channel.

The animals at Woodland Park Zoo will enjoy special holiday-themed treats this weekend and next weekend as part of the zoo’s Winter Celebration. Also, the zoo’s WildLights continues nightly through Jan. 4.

The Northwest Boychoir performs “A Festival of Lessons & Carols” from 7:30-9 p.m. Friday at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N.

Taproot Theatre continues its holiday production of “Appalachian Christmas Homecoming.”

Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Julie Mainstone in a Pacific NW Folklore Society Coffeehouse Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday; Sing with Kate Power & Steve Einhorn at 12 p.m. Saturday; and Kenny Mandell’s Music Improv Session with Randy Doak and Lamar Lofton at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Yuletide Sessions Vol. 2: A holiday concert and sing-along from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Church, 503 N. 50th St.

Seattle Folklore Society presents Arto and Antti Järvelä at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Brick Building. Cost for tickets in advance is $18 general, $16 SFS/PNA members and seniors (plus, for this concert only, the discount applies to members of Nordic Heritage Museum, Finnish Lutheran Church, & Finlandia Foundation); kids are half-price. (Tickets are $2 more at the door.)

Three Christmas variety shows at The Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N., on Sunday and Monday. Proceeds benefit the homeless.

Seattle Harmony Voice Lab from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday at the PNA, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.,in the Brick Building.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, get your photo taken with Santa at Cafe Bambino, 405 NW 65th St. (bring your own camera). All donations benefit the Ballard Boys & Girls Club.
