Next Tuesday, Aug. 5, is the 30th annual Night Out Against Crime, where thousands of neighbors all across Seattle will close off their blocks to cars and break out the barbecues and kids’ games and enjoy each other’s company.
The Seattle Police Department encourages people to participate in Night Out, because getting to know your neighbors is one of the most effective tools to prevent crime.

You can register to close off your block here. Remember that intersections can’t be blocked; and it’s best to use garbage/recycling cans and bright tape to block off streets, because they can be moved easily if an emergency vehicle needs to get through.
