Applications now available for Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program

With the Phinney Farmers Market opening on Friday, June 7, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is now accepting applications to provide low-income seniors with $40 in vouchers to be used at farmers markets, roadside stands and community supported agriculture programs throughout King County.

Open enrollment is now through May 31.

Applicants must be King County residents age 60 or older (age 55 or older if American Indian/Alaska Native) and low-income (below 185% Federal Poverty Level, which means a monthly income at or below $1,771 monthly for a one-person household or $2,391 monthly for two people—add $620 for each additional household member).

Due to the large number of applicants for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, the Seattle Human Services Department does not have enough vouchers to provide one for each applicant. (Aging and Disability Services) will utilize a random selection process. Applicants who did not receive a Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program voucher in 2012 may be prioritized during selection.
