Live music, farmers market, photography exhibit, learning to share, and more in Phinney-Greenwood this weekend

So very many things to do and see around the neighborhood this weekend. Here’s a sampling; check out our Events calendar any time for more.

The Phinney Farmer’s Market runs from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh fruit, veggies, bread, soup, flowers, meat, eggs and more from dozens of vendors.

Empty Sea Studios is moving its summer show times from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Seattle singer-songwriter Ali Marcus will perform at her CD release show on Friday, with special guests Elk & Boar. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. The show also will be webcast live on Empty Sea Television.

The Sharing Revolution with Cecile Andrews starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the PNA, in room 3 of the Blue Building. Learn how to build community by using fewer resources, sharing cars and houses, using time banks and lending clubs.

Dozens of artists and poets are coming together to show support for Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., as it has struggled with the economy, and co-owner Theo Dzielak’s daughter losing her battle with lymphoma last month. Couth Buzzard Appreciation Day begins Saturday with live music from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and again for a special cabaret from 7:30-9:30 p.m. All donations help support the book store.

The Shop Agora at 6417-A Phinney Ave.  N. is hosting an olive oil tasting from 2-6 p.m. Saturday with the owners’ favorite olive oils: Sitia Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Crete, and Domaine Mercouri Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Ilias, Greece; plus five-year aged Assyrtiko Vinegar from Santorini.

Diva Espresso, 7916 Greenwood Ave. N., will be home to a mobile photography gallery exhibit starting Saturday and running through July 23. The show is produced by We Are Juxt and features photos produced on mobile devices (phones, iPads, etc.) The photos of vintage automobiles were chosen to coincide with next weekend’s Greenwood Car Show.

The 3rd Annual Celebrate North Seattle Block Party is from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday in the Oak Tree Cinema parking lot. They’ll have carnival games, bounce houses, food, ethnic dancers, and live music by Buckets of Rain.

Don’t forget that the Rock ’N Roll Marathon and Half Marathon are on Saturday morning, so lots of streets around the Seattle Center and downtown will be closed for the 30,000 runners. Check out the marathon’s web page for all the details. And about 40 Metro bus routes will be disrupted, so if you’re taking the bus, check out Metro’s website too.
