The city’s Design Review Board will hold an early design review meeting of the proposed Greenwood Fred Meyer development at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13th at Ballard High School. The public will be allowed to give opinions on the plans. This follows Fred Meyer’s own public meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 9th to get input from the community. The July 9th meeting is from 6-9 p.m. at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, in the brick building’s Community Hall.
As we’ve previously reported, the $77 million project is eliciting strong emotions on both sides, as many are excited to replace the sea of asphalt that is the current Fred Meyer parking lot with retail and residences, while others are sad about the Greenwood Market being demolished.
The proposed development would include a Fred Meyer supercenter, including groceries, 200-300 residential units, a parking garage, and space for other retailers.
