Take down those election signs!

by | Nov 11, 2008

It’s a week after the election, but lots of campaign signs are still littering people’s yards and the sides of roads. The Seattle P.I. reports that campaign signs are forbidden on public right of ways (think the planting strip median running down 8th Ave.), and candidates can be fined $250 for signs illegally placed by volunteers. If you want to complain about an election sign on public property, contact the Seattle Transportation Department.

This sign was in the sidewalk strip this morning at 8th Ave. & Leary Way. According to the P.I.’s article, some, but not all, planting strips between the street and sidewalk are public right of ways, making it a little confusing to know whether a sign is illegally placed.
