Seattle Symphony Principal French Horn player Jeffery Fair will perform a free concert through Simple Measures Innovative Chamber Music at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N. All the music is by composers inspired by the beauty of nature.
Simple Measures presents the second concert under its new business model which provides concerts FREE to the public. This concert features works written by composers who were inspired by nature, featuring the French Horn, an instrument that started out as a hunting call instrument. We’ll be joined by Seattle Symphony’s Principal Horn player, Jeffrey Fair. Hear the hunt-inspired Divertimento by Haydn, Kodaly’s Duo for violin and cello based on tunes culled from folk music of rural Hungary, Liszt’s Vallee D’Obermann based on a novel about nature set in the Swiss countryside, and Gilbert Vitner’s Hunter’s Moon. The final complete work is Brahms trio for Horn, Violin and Piano.
Other musical artists include Michael Jinsoo Lim on violin, Rajan Krishnaswami on cello, and Mark Salman on piano.
Since the concert is free, no tickets are required. Seating is first-come first-served.
