The Summer Food Service Program (formerly known as Summer Sack Lunch) started this week at numerous sites around the region, providing free breakfast, lunch and snacks to kids and teens from ages 1-18. It’s funded by the United States Department of Agriculture to make sure all kids, but especially those who receive free and reduced price lunch during the school year, can continue to eat healthy food during the summer. No proof of income, address or citizenship is required.

Sites in or near Phinney Ridge and Greenwood:
- Sandel Playground, 9053 1st Ave. NW. Open Monday-Friday for lunch from 12-1 p.m., from now through Aug. 21.
- Viewlands Elementary, 10525 3rd Ave. N.W. Open for breakfast from 8:30-8:50 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday-Friday, from now through Aug. 21.
- Bitter Lake Community Center, 13035 Linden Ave. N. Open for lunch from 12-1 p.m. and snack from 3:30-4 p.m. Monday-Friday from now until Aug. 21.
- Broadview Thompson Elementary School, 13052 Greenwood Ave. N. Open for breakfast from 8:30-8:50 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday-Friday, from Aug. 17-21.
- Wallingford Boys & Girls Club, 1310 N. 45th St. Open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm. Monday-Friday from now until Aug. 28.
