18th Annual Seattle Works Day on June 6, give back and kick back with Seattleites

by | May 25, 2015

On Saturday, June 6, volunteers and local companies will come together at over 50 nonprofits, schools and parks around the city to get some serious work done at local nonprofits like Nature Consortium, North Helpline, Operation Nightwatch, Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, and Seattle Public Schools.

Organized by local nonprofit Seattle Works, this year’s event will be more impactful than ever with more volunteers and a team from Mayor Ed Murray’s office.

From noon to 3:30 p.m., teams will roll up their sleeves at neighborhoods around the city. When the work is done, the celebration begins. Teams will gather at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall for an after party, with lunch provided by Tutta Bella, beer by Stoup Brewing, and cider from Neigel Vintners.

Schedule:

Noon to 3:30p.m.: Volunteer projects around the Puget Sound

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: After party at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall

5:30 to 7 p.m.: Sounders match after-after party with Gorilla FC at Buckley’s in Queen Anne

“Seattle Works Day is epic! Research shows that individuals who volunteer are happier and less
stressed; and companies who support volunteerism see higher morale, less turnover and better time management from their employees,” said Seattle Works Executive Director Ben Reuler.

“Seattle Works Day is about building a stronger Seattle by rolling up our sleeves and sharing in what makes Seattle a great city: engaged people who truly care about their community. Seattle Works is proud to help drive Seattle’s excellent civic health.”
