The Seattle Sensory Garden next to Woodland Park Zoo is getting a hand from more than a dozen Seattle Pacific University students, plus a $500 grant from the Ballard Lions Club.
The demonstration garden is designed for people all ages and abilities to enjoy, with a mission of “creating a unique outdoor space with interactive opportunities to engage and explore the senses and to learn how people with disabilities experience the garden and the world,” according to the press release.
SPU students and other volunteers at a work party this Saturday will help build a wheelchair-accessible path and raised bed, so visitors can see and smell the plants up close.
