Upcoming Phinney Ridge Community Council meeting to focus on Urban Center proposal for PhinneyWood

by | Apr 19, 2024

The City has published a proposed growth plan for the next 20 years to accommodate a projected 200,000 additional residents. City Representatives will present highlights of this Comprehensive Plan on our neighborhood.

Greenwood Urban Village is proposed to expand becoming an “Urban Center” with multifamily 5-8 story buildings replacing houses up to N 80th between Dayton and 3rd. Neighborhood Centers with 5 to 6 story buildings are being proposed at N 65th & Phinney between Dayton & Palatine, around the intersection of Winona and Linden, and at Tangletown on the east side of Green Lake. Current single-family homes have been already upzoned to 3 units per lot and next year the State Legislature voted to increase it to 4-6 living units. Here is a review what housing types are being proposed.

The Phinney Ridge Community Council will be teaming up with the Green Lake Community Council to moderate a discussion on this new proposal. Attendees will be invited to discuss and ask questions about the implication of this plan at PhinneyWood, Green Lake, and Tangletown neighborhoods. Additional discussion will include capacities of water and sewage treatment, electrical grid, transportation and traffic circulation, parking impact, medical facilities, public safety, schools, tree canopy, affordable housing and effect on property taxes.

If you have specific questions, please email them in advance to Shana from the Green Lake Community Council ([email protected]) or Alice at [email protected]. Questions can also be posted in Chat during the Zoom meeting. You can also provide feedback to the City here.
