Sad news to report: Pete Sideris, who owned Pete’s Egg Nest in Phinney/Greenwood for almost 25 years passed away January 28 after a short illness. Pete and his wife, Voula, operated the restaurant from 1994 to 2018, making it an iconic neighborhood gathering place and, in the process, making a lot of friends along the way. Among those friends are Rula and George Rashad, owners of Gorgeous Georgeโ€™s Mediterranean Bistro next door to Peteโ€™s. โ€œPete was a very, very kind manโ€™,โ€ says George. โ€œHe was unbelievably generous and supportive of the community, including me and my family.โ€

Pete is survived by Voula, three sonsโ€”Vasilis, George and Kosta–and four grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 11am, Thursday, February 1, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, 1804 13th Avenue on Capitol Hill.
