Sad news to report: Pete Sideris, who owned Pete’s Egg Nest in Phinney/Greenwood for almost 25 years passed away January 28 after a short illness. Pete and his wife, Voula, operated the restaurant from 1994 to 2018, making it an iconic neighborhood gathering place and, in the process, making a lot of friends along the way. Among those friends are Rula and George Rashad, owners of Gorgeous George’s Mediterranean Bistro next door to Pete’s. “Pete was a very, very kind man’,” says George. “He was unbelievably generous and supportive of the community, including me and my family.”

Pete is survived by Voula, three sons—Vasilis, George and Kosta–and four grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 11am, Thursday, February 1, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, 1804 13th Avenue on Capitol Hill.
