11th Annual Rainbow Hop is this Saturday

by | May 30, 2023

This Saturday is one of the best Phinneywood events of the year, the Rainbow Hop! This Pride and LGBTQIA+ event celebrates finding oneself, encourages inclusivity and diversity in our community, and seeks to help individuals feel authentically seen, heard, and valued. You are invited to be a part of this gay, family-friendly, and multi-generational celebration.

As you follow the Rainbow Hop route along Phinney Ridge and Greenwood Ave, you will have the opportunity to visit participating businesses where you can engage in fun and colorful activities, listen to stories and music, and enjoy plays and performances. By participating in Rainbow Hop, you become part of a movement that seeks to make Northwest Seattle a healthy, inclusive community where everyone belongs.

To kick of this year’s Rainbow Hop, The Taproot Theatre is proud to present Bugs!, a play about bullying prevention and celebrating differences. All ages are welcome, tickets are free, and seating is general admission. Doors open at 9:30am and each reservation holds a seat until 9:45am (at 9:45am seats will be made available to all present). Registration (here) is recommended but not required.

After the play, simply follow the Rainbow Hop map (available from most participants) and visit the businesses along the route. Collect stamps as you go along, and when you have six stamps, you can redeem them for free tickets to the zoo. To get a glimpse of what to expect, we encourage you to read about last year’s event.

Put on your finest Pride outfits and join us as we parade through our neighborhood in celebration of our connected and inclusive community!
