Taproot Theatre Presents The New-To-Seattle Virtual Musical Daddy Long Legs

by | Mar 8, 2021

As Taproot Theatre enters a new year, their first project is an ambitious two-person musical, which is being professionally recorded following COVID-19 safety protocols provided by the State of Washington. Daddy Long Legs is a new-to-Seattle musical featuring breathtaking music, lyrics, and book by the same creative team that brought the musical Jane Eyre to Taproot audiences in 2014 – Paul Gordon and John Caird. The play is directed by Producing Artistic Director Karen Lund and features Rheanna Atendido and Christian Quinto.

Can you fall in love with a person you’ve never met?

It’s 1908 — Wise and witty orphan Jerusha Abbott has an anonymous benefactor offering to pay for her college education. In return, the only thing she must do is write him monthly and never expect a response. Who knew a one-sided correspondence with her “Daddy Long Legs” could inspire such a (truly socially-distanced) romance?

Karen Lund, Taproot’s new Producing Artistic Director, has previous Taproot Theatre directing credits including the virtual productions of Christmas at Home and Change Your Life, as well as the live productions of Necessary Sacrifices, Bright Star, Always… Patsy Cline and others.
