For the past nine years, our neighborhood has had the tradition of “Pig Out to Root Out Hunger” – an event that served as a fundraiser for the PNA’s Hot Meal Program which serves more than 20,000 free meals a year to those in need.
With many of our local restaurants, bars, and cafes struggling to pivot to the new reality, the decision was made to focus this year’s event on supporting them. From October 19-25, our neighborhood dedicated itself to a week of action and support for our business district’s eateries for the inaugural Great PhinneyWood Feast.
Pig Out typically raises almost $10,000 needed dollars for the Hot Meal Program through generous contributions from our restaurants, but this event had no contribution from them required. However, we were delighted to raise $5,565 from the generous contributions of neighbors like yourself, as well as a financial sponsorship from Gravity Payments and generous donations from Valhalla Sandwiches and Windy City Pie.
