Bluebird Ice Cream needs a new home

by | May 2, 2020

For more than a decade, Bluebird Ice Cream has been serving signature homemade ice creams to adoring families in Phinney Ridge and beyond. Very soon, this well-loved business may not be unless a new commercial space is located for them to permanently or temporarily move to.

In 2011, Bluebird became the first dedicated frozen treat business in the neighborhood and were soon followed by Nutty Squirrel, the Cookie Counter, and (almost) Molly Moon’s (who nearly took over the old Starbucks space earlier this year). While their lease has run out, they are unable to move because of the lockdown and are hopefully going to be operating for a month or two more while they look for a new space.

Owner Josh Reynolds has written an extensive post on their Facebook page that delves deeply into the disappointing situation. “Previously, our landlords were Caffé Vita next door, who acted as a sub-landlord, subleasing our suite to us. It was a symbiotic relationship that manifested itself positively in a number of ways, including being offered a second lease. Caffe Vita has decided to leave this Phinney Ridge location, thus ending their own lease, and Bluebird’s sublease.”

Josh has asked the community to reach out to him if you know of a commercial space that is opening up or a business that might be willing to share part of their space, even temporarily.

In the meantime, please drop by and pick up a scoop and support this beloved Phinney Business! Bluebird is open Monday-Friday from 2-8pm, Saturday & Sunday from noon-8pm,
