Ballard High School’s Music Program is hosting their annual fall concert series for choirs, orchestra and bands.

The series kicks off Tuesday, October 29, with a theme of Toward the Horizon: Choral Music from Dawn to Dusk. Under the direction of Choir Director Courtney Rowley, the concert will feature all six groups performing songs from diverse genres that trace the arc of both a day and a life, exploring such themes as morning, belonging, love and loss, resilience, and evening.

The Orchestra concert on Monday, November 4, features a brand new orchestra and the evening will feature themes from Bizet’s Carmen and the John Williams’ composed “Air and Simple Gifts”, which was commissioned for and performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony.

The band concert on Wednesday, November 6, celebrates composers by women and people of color, featuring “A Moment for Rosa” which celebrates the life of civil rights legend Rosa Parks.

All performances begin at 7:30 PM in the Ballard High School Earl Kelly Center for Performing Arts. Admission is free. You can purchase reserved seating at https://showtix4u.com. Search for the name of the performance.
