A local couple’s generosity is permanently commemorated in the Greenwood Branch of The Seattle Public Library with the dedication of the Susan and Glen Beebe Study Room on September 8.

Susan and Glen Beebe have donated to the Library for more than 10 years and claim the Greenwood Branch as their home library. Susan has volunteered there as a Homework Help tutor, assisting K-12 students with their schoolwork.

Now, they’ve created an endowment with The Seattle Public Library Foundation that will support Library programs and services for years to come.

“It’s so inspiring for me to see a couple like Susan and Glen so engaged with the Library in different ways,” Chief Librarian Marcellus Turner said at the event. “I want to thank them for all their dedication, passion, and enthusiasm for The Seattle Public Library.”

The Greenwood Branch is the fourth-most popular branch among The Seattle Public Library’s 27 locations, attracting more than 289,000 visitors each year and circulating more than 624,000 books and materials.

The Seattle Public Library Foundation provides funding for the Library’s books and programs through the generosity of private donors. It has maintained the long-term vitality of The Seattle Public Library since 1980.
