‘Honoring Those Who Serve’ celebrates military members and veterans with free admission and activities on Aug. 1

Woodland Park Zoo is honoring veterans and active military members with “Honoring Those Who Serve,” an all-day celebration of veterans and active military and their families on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The zoo opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes later than usual that day, at 8:30 p.m., as part of its new Evening Zoo program.
There will be special activities for military guests, including a resource fair, guest speakers, workshops, and a pop-up storytelling booth. Plus the Evening Zoo events, such as ambassador animal presentations, animal keeper talks, music, games, a beer and wine garden for guests 21 and over, and Zoomazium nature play space for kids.
“Honoring Those Who Serve” is free for active, reserve, retired and veteran U.S. military personnel plus one family member, with valid service identification. General admission fees: Adult (13-64) $20.95; child (3-12) $12.95; toddler (0-2) free (or free with zoo membership).
