Phinney Ridge and Greenwood are joining the international Make Music Day celebration Thursday with dozens of musical artists at businesses throughout the neighborhood

Make Music Day began in France in 1982 as the FĂȘte de la Musique, and is now a free annual event in more than 750 cities in 120 countries, always held on the Summer Solstice.
Make Music Day Phinney-Greenwood happens from 3-9 p.m. this Thursday at numerous businesses throughout the neighborhood, with family-friendly live performances in all genres. It’s hosted by the PNA Business Group, in collaboration with Make Music Seattle.
The full list of participating businesses will be posted on the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s Make Music Day webpage on Wednesday. In the meantime, here’s the list of participating artists:

Abby London – upbeat introspective originals on piano and guitar. Topics include being late, consumerism, parents, relationships, and money.
Do Peterson Band – Do Peterson Band performs Soul & Folk originals and classic Soul & Folk covers made famous by Marvin Gaye, Tracy Chapman, Stevie Wonder, The Roches, etc. Do Peterson Band is Zoe Bermet (vocals), Jeanne Morefield (vocals), Kirk Van Scoyoc (vocals, banjo) and Do Peterson (vocals, guitar).
Fiddle From Scratch with Betsy Alexander – Come and try out fiddling!
Jav DaHart – solo songwriter writing songs that tell a story – a mix of hip hop, pop, rock and poetry.
Kesselgarden Klezmer Duo – clarinet and accordion duo playing Klezmer – the instrumental Jewish folk music of Eastern Europe
Little Sara and the Night Owls – a three-piece blues, soul, and jazz cover band (vocals, guitar, and saxophone/congas) of Greenwood regulars who love to play for neighbors!

SaeMonae – Solo rap
Sarah Comer with the Open Old Time Dance Band and the Seattle Collaborative Contra Band – learn some easy folk dances to old time dance music. Check out a sample here.
Seattle Song Circle – 40 plus year tradition of singing together in Seattle.
Solo Guitar Studio – Solo classical guitar, traditional repertoire and arrangements of pop/rock/jazz etc
Steve Church – Folk, blues and jazz-tinged originals with mouth trumpet
Temporaries – piano, guitar, drum and tap dancing
The Lost Boy presents the Kewl Kidz – Spoken Word and Music
The Sirens of Swing – Female vocal trio with piano and bass accompaniment
Ukestra Seattle – 13-person ukulele orchestra performing songs and sing-alongs
Ukulele Jam at the Greenwood Senior Center
