Winter break activities for kids, teens and adults at Seattle Public Library branches

Seattle Public Library branches have plenty of activities to keep kids busy over winter break (and a few for adults). Here’s what’s happening at libraries in and near Phinney Ridge and Greenwood. Check the library’s website for a list of activities at all branches.

  • American Sign Language Holiday Story Time (with voice interpretation) for ages 0-12 from 10:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Ballard Library, 5614 22nd Ave. NW.
  • Kids Café Afterschool Meals for children ages 1-18 at the Broadview Library, 12755 Greenwood Ave. N.: 3-4 p.m. Dec. 18, 19, 21 and 22; and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Co-sponsored by Food Lifeline and United Way of King County, with support from Boeing and USDA.
  • Drop-in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities for ages 5-18 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N.
  • Intro to Adobe Photoshop for teens ages 12-18 and adults from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N. Registration is required (call 206-684-4086 or stop by the branch).
  • Seattle Writes: Writing Circle for teens and adults. Get inspiration and feedback on your writing from established writers connected with Seattle’s Hugo House, from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Fremont Library, 731 N. 35th St.
  • Drop-in Board Games (including Blokus, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Jenga, Scrabble and more) for all ages, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Ballard Library, 5614 22nd Ave. NW.
  • Watch the movie “Sing” (PG) from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Ballard Library, 5614 22nd Ave. NW. “A koala impresario stages a grand singing competition for the world’s animals in order to save his elegant theater and bring it back to its former glory.”
