Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents a Pacific Northwest Folklore Society concert with Carolyn Cruso at 7:30 p.m. Friday; and Jim Page and Orville Johnson in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Seattle Public Library will close all branches on Saturday in observance of Veterans Day.
Brown Bear Car Wash is giving free car washes to current or former members of the military from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at all of its locations. The offer is on an honor system, so no documentation is required.
Woodland Park Zoo is offering free admission Saturday to all active, retired and veteran U.S. military personnel and their spouses with valid service identification. Up to four additional family members will receive $5 off admission that day.
“Leaf it to the Village” volunteer opportunity to help rake leaves for elderly neighbors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Starts with donuts and coffee at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. RSVP to [email protected] or 206-789-1217.
Friends of The Seattle Public Library is having its Better Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at North Seattle College, 9600 College Way N., with hundreds of like-new, gift quality books in all genres, starting at $3. We’re told the Seattle Mystery Bookshop donated a large part of its inventory to the sale before it closed this fall. The sale will be in the old Cafeteria on the 1st Floor of the College Center Building, in the SE corner of the North Seattle Campus.
Second Saturday Cinema will show “Moana” at 12 p.m. Saturday at Naked City Brewery, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N. Free; doors open at 11:30 a.m. with 30 minutes of classic cartoons. Then at 4 p.m., Naked City has a B-Movie 16 mm double feature of “Flash Gordon” and “Buck Rodgers” with special guest host Professor Fred Hopkins (TV host of Channel 28 SCCTV’s Professor Fred’s Movie Marvels). Free; all ages.
Phinney Neighborhood Association’s 30th anniversary Beer Taste is at 7 p.m. Saturday, with lots of special beers brewed especially for the occasion.
Seattle Department of Transportation is hosting a community open house from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Lantern Brewing, 938 N. 95th St. to discuss the upcoming artwork for the pedestrian bridge over Aurora Avenue North at North 102nd Street.
Seattle Folklore Society presents guitarist Eric Skye at 7 p.m. Sunday at Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in Community Hall in the Brick Building.
Traffic-wise this weekend:
- Metro will operate its Reduced Weekday and University of Washington (UW) Reductions schedules on Friday.
- Seattle Department of Transportation will close the Battery Street Tunnel on State Route 99 in both directions for paving above the tunnel from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday. Look for the detour signs.
- Halsey concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Key Arena.
- Cowabunga Festival of Beef in South Lake Union with events on Amazon Plazas from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
- Fall Out Boy concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at KeyArena.
