Volunteers needed to test this year’s Gumshoe detective walk

by | Jun 28, 2017

The Gumshoe 5K Walk is a fun walk through the neighborhood every August as you solve clues to find the next location. All proceeds go to neighborhood nonprofits, and the Gumshoe Answer Man, Mike Veitenhans, spends countless hours each year coming up with new clues.

He’s looking for new pairs of volunteers to test drive this year’s Gumshoe clues to make sure they all make sense.

I need two pairs of volunteers, experienced or not, but preferably not related to each other, to test walk this year’s Gumshoe the week of July 9. During a test walk, which takes two to three hours, I ask the volunteers to solve the clues out loud, which gives me, trailing behind, feedback for tweaking the clues. In return for the help, each test walker receives a free entry form to do the Gumshoe in August. Folks who are interested, need to contact me at [email protected] by this Saturday, July 1.

This year’s Gumshoe will run from Aug. 4-17. Entry forms are $20 each (or $15 each if you buy two or more), and will be available starting Aug. 4. at Ken’s Market, Phinney Neighborhood Center, and Couth Buzzard Books.
