Aurora Licton Urban Village online petition to request city hold public meeting about safety issues regarding relocating Handy Andy to 92nd Street by new school site

by | Apr 25, 2017

Residents of Aurora Licton Urban Village and members of Greenwood-Phinney Greenways say they are concerned about the impacts of a proposed new location for Handy Andy Equipment Rental, just across Aurora Avenue from the new school being built at North 92nd Street.

Handy Andy is current at 10711 Aurora Ave. N., with additional vehicles across the street at 10702 Aurora Ave. N. The new site would be at 9225 Aurora Ave. It is predicted to generate about 500 vehicle trips per day.

The new school site will open in the fall and be home to three schools: Robert Eagle Staff Middle School, Cascadia Elementary and Licton Springs K-8. Ninety-second Street has been designated a Safe Routes to School, and Seattle Department of Transportation plans to install a pedestrian signal at 92nd and Aurora to make it safer for children.

Aurora Licton Urban Village residents have created an online petition to ask the city to hold a public meeting on the proposal. You can sign the petition here.

The Department of Construction and Inspections is accepting comments on environmental concerns about the project through April 26 (tomorrow).
