It’s a busy weekend in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge. Here are some highlights; check out our Events calendar for more.
The Cup weekly community open house from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N. 78th St.
Tonight is the huge combined Art Up PhinneyWood Artwalk and PhinneyWood Phestivus. Dozens of art galleries and other venues will be hosting artists in various mediums from 6-9 p.m. From 6 p.m. to midnight, hop on the free Emerald City Trolley that will run up and down Phinney/Greenwood avenues from North 59th to 87th streets and check out the LED monkeys in the windows, then show off your best holiday wear for a discount at participating pubs and restaurants as part of the Ugly Sweater Monkey Crawl. The Cookie Counter is having a special fundraiser Friday during Artwalk to try to raise enough money to reopen their doors after a series of devastating setbacks. Stop by the vegan bakery at 7415 Greenwood Ave. N. and buy some cookies (regular and gluten free) and hot beverages at “pay what you can prices,” plus a silent auction of merchandise donated by local businesses. They’ve also got a Go Fund Me campaign.
Taproot Theatre, 204 N. 85th St., presents “The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge” on the mainstage and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in the Isaac Studio.
Seattle Parks and Recreation presents the Pathway of Lights at Green Lake from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine. Luminaria will be placed around the entire 2.8-mile loop. Bring your own lights or candles to add to the ambiance. Musicians will perform at Green Lake Community Center on the east side, the Aqua Theater on the south side, and the Bathhouse Theater (Seattle Public Theatre) on the north side. It’s free, but you’re encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to benefit FamilyWorks food bank. Food donation bins, as well as warm drinks and treats, will be available at the three music locations.
Carolyn Cruso performs a Pacific NW Folklore Society Coffeehouse Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Couth Buzzard Books, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Couth Buzzard welcomes Jim Page in concert. And on Sunday, join in on Open Jazz Jam with Kenny Mandell (all levels) from 2-4:30 p.m.
The Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N., presents “Christmas Cookies! Holiday Show” at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, plus “Polkidots! Holiday Party” from 3-6 p.m. Saturday.
Seattle School Boardmember Rick Burke is holding a District II community meeting from 4-5:45 p.m. Saturday at the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N.
“A Very Chorale Christmas with the Northwest Chorale” is from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 13047 Greenwood Ave. N.
The new Goat on Greenwood, 6722 Greenwood Ave. N., is hosting its first pinball tournament at 7 p.m. Sunday.
“SHRIEK: A Women of Horror Film Class” at 7 p.m. Sunday at Naked City Brewery, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N.
Traffic-wise:
- The Jingle Bell Run, benefiting the Arthritis Foundation, will close some downtown streets Sunday morning. It starts and ends on Pine Street by Westlake Park.
