John Christopher Altshuler of Phinney Ridge was charged this afternoon with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree, and Violation of Anti-Harassment Order after stabbing two neighbors with a knife on Sunday when they confronted him over slashing tires between 3rd and 6th avenues on NW 74th Street.

John Christopher Altshuler is seen moments after his arrest for investigation of assault on Sunday. He was treated for head wounds when one of his alleged victims struck him when Altshuler allegedly stabbed him.

John Christopher Altshuler is seen moments after his arrest for investigation of assault on Sunday. He was treated for minor head wounds when one of his alleged victims struck him when Altshuler allegedly stabbed him.

Bail was set at $250,000 and he was ordered to have no contact with the two victims, Simon Ravona and William Brad Anderson. Altshuler will be arraigned on May 25 at the King County Courthouse.

According to the charging documents, Altshuler has a long history of harassing Anderson, his neighbor, including slashing his car tires (caught on surveillance video), accosting Anderson and his children on the sidewalk, and yelling at workers at Anderson’s house, which led to a June 2014 anti-harassment order against Altshuler.

Charging documents say Anderson again saw Altshuler slashing his car tires this past Sunday, so he confronted him, but Altshuler then stabbed him. Ravona came to his aid, trying to convince Altshuler to put the knife down, when Altshuler reportedly said “I’m going to stab you; I’m going to kill you.” The knife hit one of Ravona’s ribs. Both Anderson and Ravona were tended to by medics who arrived at the scene, then transported to NW Hospital with minor stab wounds. They were released later that night.

Altshuler stood on his front porch for more than half an hour yelling at police officers until his brother convinced him to put his hands in the air and move off the porch, where officers were able to restrain him.
