City Light replacing aging utility poles in Greenwood, Bitter Lake

by | Feb 23, 2016

Seattle City Light has started replacing aging utility poles in parts of Greenwood and Bitter Lake. The entire project will take about a year to complete. Work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Approximate work areas:

Maintenance power outages are required to do the work safely. Crews will place a door hanger or make personal contact 48-72 hours in advance of any outage. The notification will specify the date, time and duration of the outage.
The new poles will be placed alongside pre-existing poles. They will meet standard heights and widths required for overhead power line construction. This may mean that poles in your area will be slightly taller and approximately two inches wider than existing poles.
Once the electrical equipment is relocated, it will be a few months before the other companies with utilities on the poles make their transfer. We will monitor the situation to ensure the old poles are removed in a timely manner.
