Reminder: PhinneyWood Hubs disaster preparedness meeting is Monday

by | Jan 22, 2016

Don’t forget that neighborhood disaster preparedness group PhinneyWood Hubs invites neighbors to its meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N, in the Fellowship Hall downstairs.

This meeting will launch the Hubs’ “Unified Neighborhood Response” program, which brings together households, block teams, and Hubs in a coordinated system to respond to a major earthquake or other disaster. At the meeting, a block leader will report on her recent disaster skills workshop, a local household-preparedness expert will lead a Q&A session, and PhinneyWood Hubs coordinator David Baum will share his plan for using walkie-talkies for strategic communication.

Check out the PhinneyWood Hubs’ plan before the meeting and see where you can help.

This is the first in a series of monthly meetings leading up to a full scale neighborhood exercise as part of the Cascadia Rising national-level drill on Thursday, June 9, which will involve federal, state, and local agencies in a functional drill to practice response to a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake.

Residents of any neighborhood are welcome to attend this free meeting.
