It sure was a fun weekend in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge, with the main drag teeming with more than a thousand children and adults trick-or-treating at neighborhood businesses Saturday afternoon for the annual Hunger Goblin Trick or Treat, followed by the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s annual Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead festival on Sunday night.

American Dance Institute went all out with decorations, as usual.

Frankenstein’s Monster always greets trick-or-treaters at 74th St. Ale House.

Monkeying around at Herkimer Coffee.

An amazing salmon head piece at Seattle ReCreative.

Traditional Aztec dancers lead a Day of the Dead procession from the Phinney Center through the neighborhood.

People decorated sugar skulls.

Raul Sanchez constructed the Day of the Dead altar at the Phinney Center Gallery. Here he explains the significance of using marigolds. “That flower signifies the sun. Without the sun, there is no life.”
