Phinney Hub neighborhood group to practice earthquake response on Feb. 9

by | Jan 27, 2015

A new neighborhood group called Phinney Hub is hosting “The Disaster Games” on Feb. 9 to help neighbors practice earthquake responses. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Blue Building.

We’ll use a realistic earthquake scenario and a simple paper-and-pencil format to help us think about the issues we will face in the first hour after a major earthquake. We’ll discuss how to safeguard ourselves and our families, and how to help our neighbors.

We’ll also inaugurate “Proud To Prepare,” a social media campaign to recognize and appreciate people who have taken action to strengthen their independent capability. And we’ll share our plans to establish an Emergency Communications Hub at the Phinney Neighborhood Center.

This meeting is free and open to all members of the public. For more information, please visit our web site at www.PhinneyHub.org.
