Beer, reptiles, live music and circus arts in Greenwood-Phinney this weekend

Here are a few highlights of what’s happening in the neighborhood this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

Positive Images of Aging Film Series at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St., from 1-3 p.m. Friday. Today’s free film is “Robot and Frank.”

District II School Board Member Sherry Carr meets with constituents from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Community Church, 8023 Green Lake Dr.

Fever and Ague: An Evening of Theatrical Circus Arts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Versatile Arts, 7601 Greenwood Ave. N.

Couth Buzzard Books presents Jazz First Fridays with New Ronin 4 at 7:30 p.m. Friday; Sing with Kate Power & Steve Einhorn at 12 p.m. Saturday; Gary Kanter & Friends: CD Release and Benefit Concert for Familias Unidas Por La Justica at 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and Kenny Mandell’s Music Improv Session with Randy Doak and Lamar Lofton at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Reptile Man will be at Ridge Romp at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, in the Brick Building, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday is the 5th annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day, and our very own Top Ten Toys, 120 N. 85th St., will be celebrating with special events from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 27th annual PNA Winter Beer Taste is from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in the Blue Building. This year’s theme is “Hops! The Other Weed.” Cost is $25-$65; designated drivers are just $10. Pub snacks provided in addition to 10 beer tastes, plus a silence auction of beer-related paraphernalia. Check out the Beer Taste website for a list of the 32 participating breweries.

Seattle Harmony Voice Lab from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday at the PNA, in the Brick Building.

And if you’re heading downtown this weekend, the Battery Street Tunnel on Aurora Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m Sunday so Seattle Department of Transportation crews can test the fire suppression system. Northbound traffic will be routed off the viaduct at Western Avenue, to Broad Street, Second Avenue and then on to Battery Street to return to northbound Aurora Avenue. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Denny Way, to Wall Street, Elliott Avenue, then back to southbound Aurora Avenue.
