Seattle ReCreative just opened in the lower level of Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N. 78th St. The nonprofit has classes that promote arts education through the creative reuse of materials. It also collects donated material that would otherwise end up in a landfill to reuse in classes or resell to the community. The company also plans to provide free materials and professional development workshops to local educators.
We see the space as a catalyst for social and intellectual enrichment. We feel strongly that an arts learning center should serve as a classroom, laboratory, greenhouse, incubator, and town hall for the entire community. By providing opportunities for innovative arts, design and technological education in a collaborative and holistic environment, we hope to foster self-awareness, teach discipline, and encourage communication between people of all backgrounds.
Seattle ReCreative offers summer drop-in classes for children ages 1-12.
