Halloween events reminder: Business trick or treating, dancing, carnival, food drive

Halloween is just over a week away. These guys are anxiously awaiting the chance to trick or treat.

So, here’s a reminder of all the fun Halloween events happening in Greenwood-Phinney this weekend:

Carkeek Park’s Wild Halloween, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Thursday for ages 2-3; free. “Experience a fun morning learning about the “scary” animals of Halloween and how they are really not so very scary. Be sure to wear your Halloween costume to this hike.” (Code for registering online is #104959.)

Illumination Learning Studio at 7720 Greenwood Ave. N. is hosting a free Kids Monster Mash Halloween Dance Party and candy exchange from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Halloween on Holman” is a family event with trick-or-treating at local businesses, games, prizes, and more from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, at Carkeek Plaza and Holman Road Square.

“Thrill The World – Crown Hill” is hosting a “Thriller” zombie dance for the whole family at 2 p.m. Saturday at the end of the Halloween on Holman event in the QFC Shopping Center on Holman Road. This event has been canceled.

The Phinney Neighborhood Association is hosting the “Hunger Goblin’ Trick or Treat” from 12-3 p.m. Saturday at businesses all along Phinney/Greenwood avenues. Participating businesses will have posters up in their windows. Volunteers will staff food bank donation stations along Phinney/Greenwood from North 59 to North 90th streets. Donate a can of food or $2 and get a special sticker. (Donations to the Volunteers of America Greenwood Food Bank are voluntary, and any child who can’t donate can still get a sticker so they don’t feel left out.)

Volunteers of America Greenwood Food Bank is hosting a cider pressing at 9041 Greenwood Ave. N. from 12-4 p.m. Saturday. Hot cups of cider will be served for a small donation, and if you donate a bag of groceries, you’ll get a free jug of apple cider.

Woodland Park Zoo presents its annual Pumpkin Bash on Oct. 26-27 with pumpkins for the animals and trick-or-treating and entertainment for kids.

Bitter Lake Halloween Carnival, Bitter Lake Annex, 13040 Greenwood Ave. N., from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Carnival games, holiday entertainment, face painting, candy, prizes, two large jump toys, and a cakewalk. Twenty-five cents per ticket for games and food. Please bring a can of food for the food bank.

The zoo’s annual Pumpkin Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk and 1K Kids Dash is Sunday. The 1K Kids Dash begins at 9:15 a.m. and the 5K Fun Run/Walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Green Lake Small Crafts Center. Racers are encouraged to dress in costume.
