Man who murdered Phinney Ridge woman sentenced to 30 years

The man who murdered Phinney Ridge resident Prudence Hockley in December 2011 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The King County Prosecutors Office says Johnnie Lee Wiggins faced a standard sentencing range of up to 23 years, but Judge Laura Middaugh opted for the exceptional sentence on Friday.

Wiggins, 49, was convicted of beating Hockley, a popular Woodinville teacher, on Christmas Eve, while her 13-year-old daughter was nearby. Hockley died on Christmas Day. The jury convicted Wiggins of second degree murder, plus a second aggravating factor for a history of domestic violence against other women.
