This weekend in Greenwood-Phinney: Car Show, School of Rock opens, live music and more

It should be a gorgeous weekend in Greenwood and Phinney Ridge. Here are a few event highlights; check our Events calendar any time for more.

The Phinney Farmers’ Market runs from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the upper parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

Contra Dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the PNA, in the Brick Building.

Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism, 108 NW 83rd St., is having its third annual Book & Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono features original folk songs from Hayburners at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and “Threshold Playback Theater–Who and What Has Been a Guide in Your Life” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 8310 Greenwood Ave. N.

The Greenwood Car Show on Saturday will bring hundreds of classic and cool cars from every era to a mile-and-a-half long stretch of Greenwood Avenue North, from North 67th to North 90th streets. The event is free, but you’re encouraged to bring a non-perishable donation for the Greenwood Food Bank to drop into one of the many barrels along the route.

The Greenwood Senior Center’s pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday will get you fueled up to go gaga over all those automobiles. Cost is $5 per person or $15 for the whole family; 525 N. 85th St.

School of Rock Seattle celebrates its grand opening at 106 N. 85th St. in Greenwood with a day-long celebration with live music, free mini-lessons and food.

Illumination Learning Studio celebrates its grand opening at 7720 Greenwood Ave. N. this weekend, with face painting and creative fun on Saturday during the Car Show, and a parents’ information night from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Looking ahead to next week, Woodland Park Zoo celebrates the Fourth of July with special treats for the animals during its Red, White & Zoo event on Tuesday and Wednesday.
