Sunday’s Seattle Times had a nice article by historian Paul Dorpat about the Phinney Ridge Ferris wheel, which used to stand across Phinney Avenue from Woodland Park Zoo, until it burned down in 1934. St. John United Lutheran Church now stands on that site. The Times article has photos of the old Ferris wheel, and the current church.
