Daughter of Couth Buzzard Books’ co-owner passes away

by | Jun 1, 2012

Ruby Smith, the teenage daughter of Couth Buzzard Books‘ co-owner Theo Dzielak, passed away Wednesday night after battling Burkitt’s lymphoma since last year. Friends and neighbors have held several fundraisers to help her family pay medical expenses.
Ben, who runs Espresso Buono Cafe inside Couth Buzzard, told me today he doesn’t know of any memorials that have been set up yet, but he promised to keep us posted.
Meanwhile, a Forum post is spreading the news about a benefit cabaret for the bookstore, tentatively scheduled for June 23 that is being organized by the Pacific NW Folklore Society.
Our condolences go out to Theo and his entire family.
