Phinney Center briefly on lockdown as police search for suspect in U-District shooting

by | May 30, 2012

The whole city is on alert after two separate shootings left three people dead today. A shooting downtown near Town Hall killed one woman, and a separate shooting at a cafe on Roosevelt in the U-District killed three people and wounded two others, and led to a number of buildings, including schools in that area, being locked down.

The Phinney Neighborhood Center at 6532 Phinney Ave. N. was also on lockdown for about 20 minutes early this afternoon after receiving a tip that the gunman might be in the area. PNA staff initiated a lockdown and searched the building. Seattle Police later told them they could end the lockdown.
