Chuck’s Hop Shop hosts ‘Good Cause Beer Tasting’ for Greenwood Park on Wednesday

by | Feb 28, 2012

Chuck’s Hop Shop, also known as Chuck’s 85th St. Market, is hosting a special beer tasting on Wednesday evening to raise money for a new multi-sports court in Greenwood Park.
The beer samples are free, but donations are welcome. The event is from 5-8 p.m. at 656 NW 85th St.

Meet great people, learn more about the project and try awesome beer from American Brewing Co. in Edmonds including Breakaway IPA, American Blonde, Brave American Brown and Caboose Oatmeal Stout.
Vision Greenwood Park (VGP) is a volunteer group of neighbors and representatives of local groups. In 2009, the group developed the “Greenwood Park Master Plan” with input from the community. The master plan called for the construction of a community garden and multi-sports court for basketball, hockey and soccer uses. Thanks to a Seattle Department of Neighborhoods (DON) Neighborhood Matching Fund, local donations and tons of volunteer hours the community garden has been successfully built. Now we are off to finalize design of the sports court and get it built in 2012. Once again DON is helping to make this endeavor possible by awarding us a Matching Fund Grant, that coupled with a grant from by King County has gone a long way. Despite the two grants, VPG is finding it necessary to trim the design of the sports court to match our available budget. Every cent raised at events like the one being held at Chuck’s helps us maintain the important elements to make the sports court a fun useable space for the older kids in the neighborhood.
Come out and learn more about the project this Wednesday while getting to know a local business as well.
