Free beginning computer classes at the Greenwood Library

The Seattle Public Library is offering a series of free beginning computer classes for people who have little or no experience with computers. (If you’re reading this, that description probably doesn’t include you, but you can pass on the info.)
Here’s the list of classes at the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N. Registration is required for all classes; call the branch at 206-684-4086, or register in person.

  • Computer Basics 1 – Learn how to use a computer keyboard and mouse; 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5.
  • Computer Basics 2 – Learn how to use basic features of the Windows software operating system. The session will cover using the toolbars, scroll bar and text boxes. 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.
  • Email Basics – Get a free email account and learn how to use it, including how to send email, send attachments and use the address book; 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.
  • Internet Basics 1 – Learn about Web browsers and how to navigate a Web page; 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.
  • Internet Basics 2 – Learn how to use search engines, evaluate websites, and print from the Web; 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.
  • Microsoft Word – Learn how to create, edit, format, open, save and print documents using Microsoft Word 2007; 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.
  • Downloading E-books & Audiobooks – Learn how to download e-books and audiobooks from the Library’s website; 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.
  • Facebook – Learn more about how to use the Facebook to connect with friends, family and your community; 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, March 10.
