Brad tells us that a red Giant full-suspension mountain bike has been chained to the street sign at the corner of 1st Avenue NW and NW 59th Street since Saturday. None of the neighbors are claiming it, so if you think it’s yours, come by and take a look.
The Ridge Pizza reports that it’s finally received its construction permit from the city and is working hard to open at 7217 Greenwood Ave. N. by the end of the month. The family-friendly restaurant will serve pizza, sandwiches and salads, and have a bar serving beer, wine and liquor. It will be open for lunch and dinner and will offer take-out (but not delivery).
The Seattle Human Services Coalition is hosting a Candidates Forum from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday tonight (Tuesday) at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St. Candidates for Seattle City Council, King County Council Position 8, and Seattle School Board will be there. “This is a unique opportunity where you can learn more about your local candidates on issues specific to human services and advocacy,” organizers said. The SHSC has its own Voters Guide.

Also at the Senior Center this week, “Poeming The Silence: A Women’s Writing Class” led by Esther Altshul Helfgott, will start this week and run through Nov. 17. The class is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost is $85 for Phinney Neighborhood Association members, $100 for non-members.
Dedicated to the use of poem as a vehicle for accessing voice, this women’s writing class creates a space where words and story produce insight, friendship and community. The class is structured, yet informal. It’s organized as a personal development or a creative expression group which is safe and nurturing, encouraging personal growth.
