New St. John Catholic School Principal Bernadette O’Leary welcomed students to the first day of classes today. Principal O’Leary spent the last 15 years at St. George School on Beacon Hill. She lives in Phinney-Greenwood, and looks forward to walking to the school school at 120 N. 79th St. every day.

As she greeted new students, she felt a kinship to them as a newcomer herself. “I am excited and nervous, but the strongest emotion I am experiencing is happiness. This community is so welcoming and I know that all new families will soon feel like they have been here forever.”
