Greenwood car show expanding, needs volunteers

by | Jun 9, 2010

One of the biggest events of the year in our neighborhood is the 18th annual Greenwood Car Show on June 26. The free show, put on by volunteers from The Greenwood Knights car club, is expanding this year and will now fill Greenwood Avenue North from North 67th Street all the way to North 90th Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is also the first year that the car show is a Seafair Sanctioned Community Event. Proceeds from the event will go to the Greenwood Food Bank, and they’ll once again have a canned food drive.

We have also teamed up with the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum for a display of vintage hydroplanes in Safeway’s parking lot. The Last Resort Fire Department will be bringing some of their oldest fire trucks from their museum and will be displayed at the kids zone in front of the Phinney Lutheran Church. Also this year, we will have the Nowhere Men, a Beatles tribute band that has been playing for 20 years together here in Seattle to play a 2 1/2 hour set on the main stage in front of Matt’s Greenwood Auto Care on 79th. Starting at 7am, there will be a fundraiser breakfast at the Greenwood Senior Center for $5, proceeds go to the Greenwood Senior Center.

If you’d like to help out, plan on attending one of two orientations at Greenwood Christian Church, 8018 Fremont Ave. N., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, or 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19.

The Greenwood Car Show will be hosted and filmed by Lance Lambert of “The Vintage Vehicle Show.”
